The ELA/ELD Textbook Adoption Toolkit is a systematic approach to analyzing all phases of the educational decision-making process. This toolkit can be used by districts to help teachers and other district personnel select the most appropriate new state-approved ELA/ELD textbooks from the multitude of possible choices presented to them this year.
These materials, prepared by the state superintendents’ Curriculum and Instruction Steering Committee (CISC) through the efforts of county offices throughout the state, offer a clear, data-driven process for reviewing ELA/ELD instructional materials. One special feature of the toolkit is a compilation of questions based on the state criteria that will help any textbook reviewer focus in on the important parts of a new ELA/ELD program. This toolkit then allows gathered information to be quantified and prioritized for easy analysis.
The ELA/ELD Textbook Adoption Toolkit will help focus the process district personnel can use in their attempts to make informed, objective recommendations based on local needs. Be sure to join us for this truly informative program.
