These two-day trainings presented by trainers trained by the International Institute of Restorative Practices staff are designed for individuals who want to understand the basic principles, values and processes of restorative practices and interventions in school and community settings. The goals of restorative practices apply not only to those involved in or affected by misbehavior, but to the larger educational community as well.
Day one participants will come away with a thorough introduction to restorative practices and how the language, skills and processes fit into the overall mission of creating caring climates based on respect, responsibility, and repair of harm.
Day two introduces participants to a key restorative practice, Using Circles Effectively, both proactively and responsively in school communities. This training will include presentations, videos of actual circles with students in school, participation in circles, and practice planning and facilitating circles in response to a variety of scenarios.
This powerful training supports Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) state priorities, including student engagement and school climate.
This two-day training is a recommended prerequisite for the formal Restorative Conference training.
Restorative Practices can stand-alone or be embedded with existing multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS).
