What is Navigating Difference© cultural competence training?
Washington State University Extension developed Navigating Difference©. This program enables participants to create a safe and welcoming environment for all learners with activities that respect and support individual learning styles.
What is cultural competence?
Cultural competence is the ability to interact and communicate effectively with people from diverse cultures, including those of a different age, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, race, and more.
Who should attend?
Navigating Difference is open to site and/or leadership teams. Leadership teams are comprised of district and/or school site administrators, PBIS coaches, lead teachers and counselor/school psychologist if desired, with a minimum of two members per team and a maximum of five members per team.
How does Navigating Difference© training work?
Trainers lead a combination of presentations, small groups discussions, an small group interactive learning activities.
We also offer the training module-by-module, starting with Cultural Awareness. The cost varies should you choose the module-by-module training.
