Event Date 12/03/2019
In this era of the standards movement, assessment plays a key role. Summative high-stakes tests have driven instruction for over a decade with little overall gains and a growing achievement gap. Educational research informs us that formative assessment practices produces significant increases in student learning. This session will provide strategies and tools to foster highly-effective formative assessment teaching practices in classroom. We will view and discuss video cases, examine student work and share professional development learning cycles to support teachers in enacting formative assessment practices with their students. A new type of formative assessment lesson will be introduced called re-engagement.
